MIMOSAS

Mimosas is a body of work rooted in nostalgia, memory, and inheritance. The series draws from intimate recollections of my grandmother’s garden and the quiet, everyday moments shared with both her and my mother, memories that now exist only in fragments, scent, and feeling.
Mimosa flowers hold a deeply personal significance for me. They recall afternoons spent outdoors in my grandmother’s care, where time moved slowly and nature felt protective. Years later, after losing my mother, these same flowers became a bridge between generations, symbols of continuity, softness, and resilience. Preserving them is an act of holding onto what was once fleeting, honoring the women who shaped my sense of beauty, patience, and devotion.
Using dried florals encapsulated in resin, I aim to suspend these memories in a state between permanence and fragility. The curvature of each stem and the delicate structure of each bloom guide the viewer’s eye, mimicking the way memory drifts, never linear, never fixed. The work invites close inspection, asking viewers to slow down and engage with the details, much like recalling a cherished moment from childhood.
Mimosas is not simply about preservation of flowers, but about preserving feeling, grief softened by remembrance, loss intertwined with gratitude. Through this series, I explore how nostalgia can exist as both comfort and ache, and how memory, when held gently, becomes a form of love that endures.
